NIFT Workshop
LOCATION
NIFT Jodhpur is a public design institute established in 2010. It offers Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in design, technology, and management. Located in Jodhpur, a hub for handicrafts, it gives students hands-on experience through collaborations with local artisans and industry experts.
I conducted a 5 days Digital Design Workshop for the
3rd-year Fashion Design students at NIFT Jodhpur,
focused on introducing them to digital garment creation
from scratch.
The sessions began with setting up digital workspaces and learning patternmaking from scratch, covering both 2D and 3D tools. Students explored fabric manipulation techniques, understanding fabric types and their digital behavior, and customizing prints and materials directly within the software.
The workshop also covered avatar manipulation, posing, animation, and rendering techniques, emphasizing realistic output and presentation.
They learned how to add and adjust measurements, generate accurate garment layouts ready for print, and manage billing and material estimates within the digital workflow..
Students practiced cross-software integration, transferring garments between CLO 3D, Mixamo, and Blender to create animated visual outputs
and immersive presentations.
To keep the sessions interactive,
I included Q&A rounds with chocolate rewards, quick 5-min design competitions, and collaborative reviews.
The workshop concluded with each student creating their own complete digital garment and receiving a certificate of completion issued through TUNI.
